And now, on a totally unrelated note, here's your new favorite thing that doesn't sound like anything else. Milwaukee band The Scarring Party's got the instrumental variety and individuality of DeVotchKa, but that's my only comparison. I might call it old timey, they might correct me with "end timey". Here's how they describe their album A Concise Introduction:

A macabre fusion of syncopated tuba and bass, unorthodox percussive flourishes, staccato accordions and spider-climbing banjo melodies.
