Everyone and their witless classmate has taken to Of Montreal, which is great, but a bit unexpected considering their affinity for oddity. That tendency may be why "The Past is a Grotesque Animal" is such a standout track on the new album Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? It's got more of the serious and less of the silly than you'd expect. The first time I heard it, I'd fallen asleep to my ipod on random and woken up to it, knowing that something had to have happened to somebody to make this 12 minute purgative exist. Indeed, this album is more personal than previous ones. But don't worry, there are plenty of bonkers moments too.
